Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

This is a prayer that is often overlooked because we do not have a good understanding about what it means for the Kingdom of God to come into our lives. In my Sunday School class we probably took about 6 months studying the following verses to gain a better understanding about God’s Kingdom. I would encourage each of you to take some time to study and meditiate upon these scriptures.

Then, When you pray for the Kingdom of God to come into your life or circumstance, It will have more meaning to you and therefore will become a prayer of FAITH with complete confidence in who God is.

1. God’s Kingdom has always been and will always be.
2SA 7:16 And thine house and thy KINGDOM shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
1CH 17:14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my KINGDOM for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.
PS 145
11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;
12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
DA 4
1 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
2 I thought it good to show the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
AC 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the KINGDOM of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

2. God reign’s over all.
1CH 29
10 Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.
12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.
Dan. 4:15-27
HEB 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy KINGDOM.

3. His throne is in the heavens.
PS 103:19 The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his KINGDOM ruleth over all.

4. The Kingdom is the Lords given to Jesus.
Dan. 7: 13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
MT 6:10 Thy KINGDOM come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
MT 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the KINGDOM, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
JOH 18:36 Jesus answered, My KINGDOM is not of this world: if my KINGDOM were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my KINGDOM not from hence.
HEB 1 (all) But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy KINGDOM.

5. The Kingdom given to the saints
MT 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the KINGDOM of heaven is greater than he.
MT 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the KINGDOM of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
MT 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the KINGDOM of heaven, but to them it is not given.
MR 4:11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the KINGDOM of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
MT 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the KINGDOM, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
LU 22:29 And I appoint unto you a KINGDOM, as my Father hath appointed unto me;
HEB 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a KINGDOM which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
JAS 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the KINGDOM which he hath promised to them that love him?

6. Who gets to enter the Kingdom?
MT 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the KINGDOM of heaven.
MT 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the KINGDOM of heaven.
MT 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the KINGDOM of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the KINGDOM of heaven.
MT 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the KINGDOM of heaven.
MT 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the KINGDOM of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
MT 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

7. Where do we fit in His Kingdom?
EX 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a KINGDOM of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

8. The Kingdom of God is Now.
MT 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the KINGDOM of heaven is at hand.
MT 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the KINGDOM of heaven is at hand.
MT 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The KINGDOM of heaven is at hand.
MR 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the KINGDOM of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
MT 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the KINGDOM, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
MT 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the KINGDOM, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
MT 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the KINGDOM of God is come unto you.
MT 6:33 But seek ye first the KINGDOM of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

9. The Kingdom cannot yet be seen.
LU 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the KINGDOM of God should come, he answered them and said, The KINGDOM of God cometh not with observation:
LU 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the KINGDOM of God is within you.
JOH 18:36 Jesus answered, My KINGDOM is not of this world: if my KINGDOM were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my KINGDOM not from hence.
RO 14:17 For the KINGDOM of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
MT 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the KINGDOM of heaven.
MT 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the KINGDOM of heaven.
MT 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the KINGDOM of heaven.
MR 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the KINGDOM of God.
MT 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The KINGDOM of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
JOH 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the KINGDOM of God.
1CO 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the KINGDOM of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
COL 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the KINGDOM of his dear Son:

10. There is work to be done in the Kingdom.
MT 20:1 For the KINGDOM of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
MT 24:14 And this gospel of the KINGDOM shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
MT 25:14 For the KINGDOM of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
LU 4:43 And he said unto them, I must preach the KINGDOM of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
LU 8:1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the KINGDOM of God: and the twelve were with him,
LU 9:2 And he sent them to preach the KINGDOM of God, and to heal the sick.
LU 9:11 And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the KINGDOM of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
LU 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The KINGDOM of God is come nigh unto you.
COL 4:11 And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcision. These only are my fellow workers unto the KINGDOM of God, which have been a comfort unto me.
2TI 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his KINGDOM;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

11. The Kingdom of Heaven is like???
MR 4:26 And he said, So is the KINGDOM of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
MR 4:30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the KINGDOM of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
LU 13:20 And again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the KINGDOM of God?

12. There is power in the Kingdom
MR 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the KINGDOM of God come with power.
1CO 4:20 For the KINGDOM of God is not in word, but in power.

13. Who can know the Kingdom of Heaven?
LU 8:10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the KINGDOM of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
LU 9:27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the KINGDOM of God.
AC 1:3 To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the KINGDOM of God:

14. There’s benefits in the Kingdom.
LU 12:31 But rather seek ye the KINGDOM of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
LU 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the KINGDOM.
LU 18:29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the KINGDOM of God's sake,
30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

15. There is often a price to be paid for the kingdom.
AC 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the KINGDOM of God.
2TH 1:5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the KINGDOM of God, for which ye also suffer:
RE 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the KINGDOM and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Prayer for The Kingdom to Come
“Father God, I pray today that your Kingdom be manifested in my life. That as I live with the understanding that I may be in this world but I am not of this world, that I will function as a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven, with all the power, authority, and responsibility that goes with it. I know that I speak those things that are not and they become reality, So help me to speak those things that you would have me to speak. I know there is no sickness an disease in Your Kingdom, So help he be a carrier of your Healing every where I go; Speaking words of Life into dying situations. “ And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.”
EZ. 16:6

As a carrier of the presence of God I know that when I step into a situation that the situation has to make room for the God that is in me and therefore the situation must change and bow to the authority of God. If He healed people before, Know that He will heal you today. God established Himself as the one who heals. So often I hear someone say that they are not sure that God wants to Heal. You need to know that it is God’s very nature to Heal. All that is Good comes from God.

In some cases, sickness comes from Sin in someones life or Sin in their parents life. So first of all Search your heart and ask God to search your heart and see if their be any wicked way in you. Examine your prior genorations and see if there is an iniquity that is passed down from one generation to the next (example: grandfather was an adulterer, father was an adulterer, and you either are or are struggling with those thoughts). If you find either current sin or generational iniquity, then simply repent from that and get your heart right with God. Don’t let sin keep you from your healing or your salvation. Repent.

However, some are sick and it is not caused from any sin. If this is the case, then know that it is just a trial of your faith and you will make it through. Remember, God wants to heal you. Be patient, trust God, and in His Timing, have faith and know that your healing is on the way.

The Lord is my Shepherd

When you begin to pray, you must come to know God as your Shepherd. For in that name you will find such a comfort that can never be taken away from you.

Psalms 23
1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

As the Shepherd of your life the very first thing you see is “I will not want” for anything. For “My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19) The confidence that comes with knowing that what ever you face, the source for all of your needs is God. “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13)

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures” Implies that God knows that you have need of rest from time to time. Even if you do not stop to rest on your own, God will make you stop and rest. Because in these times of rest God can do a great work in your heart. We often get so busy that we do not spend enough time with God. After all that is what salvation is all about. To have a relationship with the God that created you. So let God spend time with you. Take time to rest in His blessings.

There are often many things in our lives that have been damaged or taken away from us either through fault of our own or someone else. Relationships, opportunities, peace of mind, are often areas of attack by Satan. Our Shepherd will restore not only family, friends, money, opportunities, peace of mind, but most importantly he will restore our soul into a relationship with Him.

Sin shall not have dominion over me. On our own we often fail to live righteously in every area in our lives, But with the help of God our Shepherd, when we keep our eyes on Him, He will lead us and keep us righteous. And of course, It’s through Jesus and His shed blood that we are made Righteous in the sight of god. Thank you Jesus for restoring me to you and making me righteous.

In good times and in bad I will trust in God for he never changes.
I will fear no evil, because I trust the Shepherd and know that He thinks Good thoughts toward me. He will fill my cup till it runs over and Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of our lives.

Know God as your Shepherd!

Dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.

12 Blessings from Dwelling in the Secret Place

Ps. 91:9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
1. 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
2. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
3. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
4. 13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
5. 14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: (from the attack of the devil)
6. I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
7. 15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
8. I will be with him in trouble;
9. I will deliver him, (from life’s troubles)
10. and honour him. (the last shall be first)
11. 16 With long life will I satisfy him,
12. and show him my salvation.

Apology

I would like to apologize for not being able to keep these lessons flowing regularly. I was quite glad to hear that it was from a southern baptist preacher because I believe the baptist as a whole ( not every one) need to hear this message. These flags were called banners or a standards. These banners were decorated with symbols that represented the king or the kingdom from which the people came from. In times of battle the standards were a reminder to each person of what they were fighting for, Or what they were living for. This simple reminder would encourage them to keep fighting for what the believed in. These banners would strike fear in to the enemies they were facing (Song of Solomon 6:4). In times of peace these same banners were a reminder of battles won in the past. It was also a reminder of the price that had been paid for the freedoms they enjoy.

In psalms 20:5, We are encouraged to remember and rejoice in the salvation of God by setting up banners. Far better than that, God declares that He Himself would set up His own standard before the people: Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my STANDARD to the people (Isaiah 49:22). In Isaiah 59:19 God said He would raise up a standard against our enemies. In Song of Solomon 2:4, God alludes to His banner over us being Love. The psalmist says to God: Thou hast given a BANNER to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth (Psalms 60:4).

All of these scriptures are simply pointing to the fact that The Lord God is our Standard; our banner. He is our Jehovah-Nissi. When we face those battles in life, we can look to God to remind us of what we are fighting for. When the enemy sees us coming carrying Jehovah-Nissi as our flag, He trembles in fear. When we look at God we can see how he saved us in the past and brought us to where we are.

When we look to God we see so many things all at one glance. We see His Righteousness, Love, Kindness, Goodness, Peace, Longsuffering, Forgiveness, Salvation, Mercy, Justice, Purity, Healing, and Presence. We see the love of a Father, and the gentleness of a Shepherd. We can also see our own impurities reflecting back off of His Glory. So we see our own unworthiness. Then we see the price, we could have never paid. Finally we see Jesus, the one who paid the price; our redeemer, our savior, our friend, and My Lord. He is the Rose of Sharon, the lily of the Valley, and the Bright and Morning Star.

When you begin to pray, remember God is your standard. He is your banner. He is who you look to in trouble and in peace. He is the mark that we are aiming for. Don’t lower your standards, but rather make your standards match His. For He is Jehovah-Nissi, The Lord Our Standard.

Prayer of Provision

Father I thank you that you have every thing under control; that nothing has taken you by surprise. Though God had told him to sacrifice Isaac, he knew that the same God that gave him a miracle son was more than able to bring that son back to life if needed. Abraham also knew that all the promises God had given him about being the father of many nations, was based upon Isaac being his seed. Therefore, when Isaac asked about the offering, Abraham said with confidence: “My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering”. (Gen. 22:8)

Abraham’s confidence in God was not shaken by the circumstance, Because he was able to remember what God had already done for him.

Gen 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

This is also such a great foreshadowing of Jesus. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) If God provided his only son for us to have salvation, don’t you know that He will provide the things that you have need of.

Think about it!

Jesus said: And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (Luke 11:9 )

We can have confidence that while we are serving God, HE WILL PROVIDE all that we are in need of.

Prayer for Jehovah-Shammah

Father I thank you for always being with me. In these times, sometimes, we feel that we are all alone. We can often feel that no one can understand us, or help us. This is why we need to stop and meditate on what the word of God has to say about it.

One of the attributes given to god is The Lord is There. Where? Where His people dwell (Eze 48:35). Israel reminded Joseph of this as he (Israel) was dying: And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall BE WITH YOU, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.(GE 48:21) This was a reminder and an encouragement that kept the children of Israel through 400 years of Egyptian bondage.

The Spirit of the Lord said to Jehoshaphat: Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will BE WITH YOU.(2CH 20:17) Knowing that God is with you can change how you look at each situation. Knowing that He is not only with you but He is fighting on your behalf, can give you confidence and encouragement in every situation.

Boaz greeted the reapers by saying: The LORD BE WITH YOU. (RU 2:4) A greeting in Romans 15:33 simply reminds us; Now the God of peace BE WITH YOU all. And Paul reminded his readers in 2CO 13:11: Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall BE WITH YOU.

We all need to be reminded that Jesus said: I will NEVER LEAVE thee, nor forsake thee.( HEB 13:5 ) If that was not enough, He then sent The Holy Spirit: And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may ABIDE WITH YOU for ever. (JOH 14:16) We can see that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy spirit, have all declared that they will be with you.

Remember, prayer begins with focusing on our wonderful Lord and savior. Then our troubles just don’t seem so big.

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, SHALL BE WITH YOU.(AM 5:14)

Prayer of Peace

Oh Lord, I thank you for being my Jehovah-Shalom. In you I find peace. Though I may be in the middle of life’s storms, I know that you are with me and you will never leave me. I find comfort in your presence. I will not worry about what I will face tomorrow, for I know who holds tomorrow. I will not worry about what comes my way today, for You, oh Lord, are with me. I will not worry about what happened yesterday, for there is now therefore no condemnation in Christ, because you have forgiven me. I may have to face consequences for the seeds that I have sown in my life in the past, but I know that you will never leave me nor forsake me. I choose to let the peace of God rule in my heart. I choose to put my faith and trust in my Lord and Savior, My Prince of peace, My Jehovah-Shalom, My Jesus.

Jehovah-Shalom

In life we face all sorts of troubles: There are family problems, financial problems, marital problems, physical problems, business problems, and many others. All of which can weigh very heavy on our minds. While trying to sort through these issues, many find themselves worried and depressed, trying to figure out how to fix what might happen.

God never intended for us to carry these pressures ourselves. As a matter of fact, worry and depression are both linked to fear, and God, through out the Bible tells us not to fear. An irrational fear is just the opposite of Faith. It is OK to be concerned about a situation for a moment, but when you continue to dwell on it, it becomes irrational. Jesus said in John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” As the children of Israel were leaving Egypt, Pharaoh and his army were closing in behind them in Exodus 14. God said “Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD ……The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

How do we live in this Life without worry or fear? You simply must have a greater understanding of who God is. When Gideon saw the angel of the Lord, he built an alter and called it Jehovahshalom, which means The Lord is Peace (Judges 6). Our peace of mind does not come from our circumstances. Our peace comes from the Lord.

God’s desire is for us to live in His peace. Psalms 4:8 says “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.” Psalms 29:11 says “The LORD will bless his people with peace.” God’s peace is available for us. He wants us to dwell in His peace. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” In numbers chapter 6:24-26, God declares a blessing on the people: “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.”

In Isaiah 9:6, Jesus is declared to be the Prince of Peace. In John 14:27 Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” In Mark chapter 4, Jesus spoke peace into the midst of the storm.
God does not want us to be ruled by fear, for fear brings confusion. He said in 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” We are to “let the peace of God rule in your hearts.” (Col. 3:15) “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Rom. 8:6) “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:7) Finally, “Now the God of peace be with you all.” (Rom. 15:33)

Prayer of Sanctification

You, oh God, are the Lord who sanctifies. This simply means that He “sets us apart” from everyone else; not physically but spiritually in attitude and actions. In John 17 Jesus prayed that God would not take us out of the world but keep us from evil while in the world. He also said that we are no longer of this world but are of His kingdom. He said that He sanctified Him self that we also may be sanctified through Him.

Why would He do this for us?

Speaking of the church “That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish“ (Eph. 5:26-27). Speaking of an individual, Aaron, in this passage: sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the priest's office (Exodus 40:13).

The reason God wants us sanctified is to have a relationship with us. Remember, God is Holy, and can’t have a relationship with anything un-holy. Because we have all sinned, God told Moses that he could not see His glory or he would die. We as sinners cannot have a relationship with God until we have accepted the blood sacrifice of Jesus that washes away our sins and restores us to the place where we can have a relationship with God.

Therefore, we should not insult the price Jesus paid on the cross by thinking we can live however we want to. Instead, we should live a sanctified life, in order to bring about a closer relationship with God. God will be there to help you because He is Jehovah-M’Kaddesh -- The Lord who Sanctifies.

Prayer for Righteousness

Oh Lord, How righteous and Holy you are. Help me to make wise decisions and to be a righteous and upright person.

The Lord of Righteousness

Thinking on the name of God, remember God is The Lord of Righteousness; Jehovah tsedawkaw. Psalms 145:17 declares: The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. There is no evil in God. There is no gray area. When you think about God, He is perfect! He is Good! God is not trying to do you harm.

Psalm 139:17 How precious also are thy THOUGHTS unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! God has good thoughts toward you. In Jeremiah 29.11 God states: For I know the THOUGHTS that I think toward you, saith the LORD, THOUGHTS of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.God is righteous even in His very thoughts.

God is righteous. Due to sin we are not. God sent His Son to become righteousness for us. Therefore our righteousness is solely based upon His righteousness. He is Jehovah-tsidkenu, The Lord our righteousness. Isaiah said in Is. 45:24 Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength, And in Is. 61:10 he says: I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness. Paul said it like this, in 2cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. It is clear here that we cannot be righteous on our own, But God, through Christ, made us righteous who have declared Jesus as Lord.

While speaking about the things in life that we are in need of, Jesus said, in Matthew 6:33, seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. To seek the kingdom of God simply means to seek after God’s will and not your own. Also, He says here to seek after righteousness. It takes a decision on your part to set your mind to doing the will of God, and living a righteous life. Though, thru Christ, we have been justified, We are still responsible for our actions. Paul also said in Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. Living a righteous life is the best defense you have to the attacks of the enemy.

If we take a look at the God that we serve then we will desire to get as close to Him as we can, and be as much like Him as we are able.

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:11-16

Prayer to the Almighty

God, you are the one that spoke the universe into existence. If you will learn to do this then your prayer life will forever be changed for the better and you will grow closer to God than you ever have before. However, you can’t exalt the name of the Lord if you don’t know it.

Jesus said to Hallow the name of the lord, but before we begin looking at the Lords name, let’s take a look at a couple things the Lord told Moses about His name. In Exodus 3 Moses asks what the name of God is. Lets look at Gods response.

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Looking back in scriptures we can see that names had meanings. For instance, Jabez means “Pain“, Abraham means “the father of many nations,“ and Judah means “praise.” When God said “tell them that I am sent you,” He was implying that no name could fully describe Him. He was saying, I am everything that you need.

God had already declared his name to be “the Lord” (Jehovah) in Genesis 2:4. Abraham new Him as Jehovah in Genesis 22:14. Later in Exodus 20:7 God declared:

7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Taking God’s name in vain is far more than using it as a profanity. The word vain means, among other things, to make of no affect or to diminish in value. Therefore when you in your heart or in your actions diminish the meaning of God’s name then you have taken His name in vain. In scripture there are many names of God mentioned. Each one describes an attribute of God’s character. For example: Jehovah means: Lord, self existent one, eternal one.
Jehovah Jireh means: The Lord who provides.

Therefore if in the struggles of life you find yourself believing that you are not going to make it, or you believe that there is no way for you to survive. Maybe you don’t know how your going to pay that bill, and it’s getting you depressed. Then you have diminished the name of the Lord and taken His name in vain because He is the Lord who provides. If you have a sickness in your body and you begin to think that you will not get better, then you have taken Jehovah Rophe, the Lord who heals, in vain. You made it have no meaning in your life.
Jesus said Hallowed be thy name. Spend time in prayer reflecting on the names and attributes of God. It will encourage you and draw you closer to the Lord you serve.

PRAYER TO THE FATHER

Oh God, I thank you for being my Father in heaven. Throughout scriptures God is referred to as our Father. Unfortunately not everyone comes from a home with a good father figure. So the notion of God as our father is often hard for some people to understand. So, look at what a good father is in scripture to get a greater understanding of God as “our Father.” Jesus’ parable of the prodigal gives us insight into the heart or God the Father. (Luke 15)

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Our father is full of compassion. Our Father is looking for us to return to Him. He loves us even when we are in rebellion to him and He allows us to make our mistakes even when He knows where we will end up. When we make the effort to return to Him, He runs to meet us right where we are at. When we repent, He forgives and restores us to the place of son-ship. He blesses us without hesitation. He clothes us and covers us. Our father celebrates our return to him. This is the Father that we have in heaven.

When Thou Prayest

Prayer is vital to building a relationship with God. Prayer is you communicating with God and God communicating with you. Learning how to pray according to Jesus’ example will change your prayer life, allow you to start praying with confidence, and build your relationship with the Lord into an intimate walk with God.

First lets cover a couple of don’ts. Do not pray with the intention of being heard by other people; making your prayer sound good because you know there listening. Remember who your praying to. He‘s the only one that matters. Do not pray the same thing over and over like “God is great. God is good. Let us thank him for our food…..” “Now I lay me down to sleep…” is fine when you’re a kid but grow out of it. Pray from your heart not from your memory. Also, remember, God is not deaf. He heard you the first time. (Mathew 6:5-7)

Matthew 6:6 says “when you pray.” not if you pray. It is expected of every child of God to have there own prayer time with the Lord. Find you a Quite place, away from anyone else and any distractions. Set aside time to spend with God. You will be glad you did.

Jesus’ example prayer (Mat. 5:9-13) is a great pattern for prayer. Use it to guild your own prayer life into God’s presence. It’s Good to use a pattern for prayer to get you started, but don’t stop there. Use the pattern to help guild you and to remind you of things, But don’t just pray the pattern. Let your heart be poured out on the alter of God’s ear. He’s listening! Private prayer leads to public power. In other words, what you do in private for God, God will reward you openly.

Building your relationship with God

The success of every relationship that you have is largely do to how well you communicate with each other. Your relationship with God is no different. God sent His son to pay the price for you in order to restore the ability for you to have a relationship with Him.
Jesus spent time teaching the desciples how to have a relationship with God, both in his teachings and in His actions. To have a relationship you must take the time to get to know the one you want a relationship with. With God this simply means you need to take time to read and study God’s word, because in His word His great attributes are revealed. Spending time with God is the only way to have a relationship with Him. Spend time reading His word and talking to Him. This is called prayer. Prayer is simply your conversation with God. Jesus often went off by himself to be alone with God the father. In Mathew 6:9-13 Jesus taught the desciples how to pray by giving them an outline for prayer. He never intended for this to just be a prayer repeated over and over, but rather, It is an outline for prayer.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Using this as a prayer pattern can dramatically change your prayer life, and therefore, strengthen your relationship with God.
